Welcome to Marutham Honeybee Farm
Empowering Lives Through Beekeeping
At Marutham Honeybee Farm, we are developing the sustainable and eco-friendly beekeeping practices which plays vital role in the conservation. We are rearing 108 honeybee colonies, which include A. mellifera and A. cerana indica species, which produces the premium the honey varieties and beekeeping accessories by ensuring the welfare of our bees. Our journey in beekeeping is driven by our passion for nature and our commitment to make a positive impact on agriculture and biodiversity. Our bee farm is recognized and certified by the National Bee Board (NBB) and also we adhere to the highest standards in beekeeping and offering a range of services including hive installation, maintenance, and providence beekeeping training to the farmers. We have established collaboration with esteemed institutions such as ICAR- Krish Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and the Diploma in Apiculture, Department of Zoology, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore for sharing knowledge, promoting beekeeping and to encourage the beekeeping practioners and farmers. We are also active member of TBI-TNAU and the Tamil Nadu Beekeepers Farmers Association. If any of the budding beekeepers and the beekeeping practioners, farmers required any guidance to promote the beekeeping practices, we will join hand and commit ourselves to develop the sustainable beekeeping for the production of honey and the others products to meet the economy of the India.
Our Journey: The Bee Keeper Program
In 2018-19, we proudly launched our specialized skill training program, "Bee Keeper" with the financial support of the Agricultural Skill Council of India (ASCI), New Delhi. This initiative saw 20 participants from Coimbatore gain hands-on training in scientific beekeeping methods. We covered critical topics, including colony management, pest and disease management, honey harvesting, and processing techniques. This program not only empowered individuals but also aimed to enhance the local economy through beekeeping.
A Leader in Beekeeping Innovation
Our pioneering spirit is embodied by Mr. Manikandan, a leading farmer from Nallampalayam village, whose dedication to agriculture began in his childhood. With guidance from our Krishi Vigyan Kendra Coimbatore, Mr. Manikandan established the Marutham Bee Farm as a training and practicing center for students, research scholars, and budding beekeepers. His relentless pursuit of knowledge has led to the development of 5 to 10 bee colonies for breeding and training purposes, which has made a significant impact in the region.
Impact and Community Involvement
Our training programs have significantly impacted the community, with over 482 participants attending our workshops on bee management and pest control. Mr. Manikandan has also acted as a resource person for beekeeping training, recognized as a master trainer by our Kendra and as a progressive beekeeper by TNAU in the Department of Agricultural Entomology. His involvement in the Tamil Nadu Beekeepers Association and various agricultural fairs has further established Marutham Honeybee Farm as a leader in beekeeping education.
Creating Employment Opportunities
Through our initiatives, we have generated additional income, amounting to Rs. 2,95,600, while also creating employment for local laborers. Our training sessions not only uplift individuals but also foster community development through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
